Either early or late afternoon because animals will be waiting to be fed. Morning is better for light in terms if photography. Spending the night is fun, but it depends on what else you are doing in the area during your visit.
H there - April's weather is typically spring and glorious - makes for a wonderful safari tour at any time. My favorite is 2pm - back in time to enjoy a glass on wine with friends on Flamingo Terrace before dinner. Enjoy!
10am is better. More animal activity.
We stayed overnight on property and did the 10 am. Saw plenty of activity from the animals.
