Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Tent cabins fun, though if you are a light sleeper bring earplugs, it is a symphony at night! Food was surprisingly decent as they feed you more like a barbecue buffet than anything else. The meats-ribs, chicken, etc are actually very good! Older elementary kids and up, are a perfect age for the tours.

An amazing experience for me and my family and you can find it here in the heart of the bay area 🤗 to be able to see these wonderful animals. Plus a Very knowledgeable staff and crew. Special shout out to Robert! His patience is above and beyond The safari ride made it even better to have a chance to see the animal up close is amazing.

Very knowledgeable staff. Great time here! Bring water for summer months it can get really hot up there. If your taking the full tour in trucks you have to ride on top even for a little bit. They have umbrellas for the sun. My favorite was the rhinos. Being up close to them was amazing!

So disappointed! Only a handful of animals on the property. Several in old small cages. Bird aviary tour is short, but I like birds. Our tour guide, Sara did a great job. She was very knowledgeable about the few animals on the property and their history. The park's tour bus fumes will almost kill you they are so strong. No walking by yourself in Safari West. You'd be better off going to your local zoo.

Yes you can go for the day. Check out website for safari tours.
I phoned them after the fires and they said the only problem they had was land lines were down
There are several types of tours. Check their website. The cost varies.
Depends, they have wkday and wknd rates, checkout website.
Better to wear tennis shoes bring a hat and comfortable clothes..dont forget your sunblock and sun glasses if sunny
Safari price is separate.
Yes they are. We used our Bob stroller, no problems at all.
It's all good!
No
Yes, the animals are safe and they have stayed on property! They posted to their social media and articles have been written stating that the owner stayed and fought back the flames with a garden hose!
If she can take a few steps up into the truck she can definitely visit easily
I actually had to call because the website wasn't extremely up to date for bookings
Yes, there are cabanas there in the property you can rent. They are really cool! You must call the park to get more information as I am not sure what the rental costs may be. Good luck!
Hi John, Our safaris generally average about two and a half to three hours. There is a walking portion that runs about 45 minutes to an hour and a driving portion that is usually an hour and a half to two hours in length. We allow for variation as we can never predict where the animals will be from day to day and what interesting things they may be doing when we find them.
Either early or late afternoon because animals will be waiting to be fed. Morning is better for light in terms if photography. Spending the night is fun, but it depends on what else you are doing in the area during your visit.
I would avoid bringing pets, there are a lot of wild animals roaming free
To participate in their classic safari tour, children should be 4 years or older for safety reasons. There are no age restrictions on their private tours.
The safari costs $ 98 adults, $ 94 youth and children $ 45 during the week and $ 115 adults, $ 100 youth and $ 50 children on Saturdays and Sundays.
Yes they do have both in room. No Wi-Fi in rooms however
No but there are some things toy can walk up to the cages such as birds and cats and primates.
Check the website for current prices, but it was around 80$ for each adult
I haven't seen the cottage in person, but stayed in a tent - the photos on the website are very accurate. The cottage is walled-off, so you might hear less noise - from your neighbors and the wildlife. Plus, if you're in a big group, the cottage might be a better choice - large number of beds and more privacy. The flamingos can be noisy at night, so if you want a decent night's sleep, consider the hillside tents - I've seen 30 and 31, 30 has lovely views of the little lake in front and the antelopes. If you want to be closer to the birds, the tents at the lower levels would work. It all depends on your preference. Call the office and book if you need more information.
They have a cafe that sells wine and beer, u can take it in a cup to drink on 4 wheel drive tour. Don't spill!
Should be around 300$ but even if it would be 1000$ its well worth it. Unforgettable experience!
We called them asking about the animals. They said they were not very impacted and all animals are safe!
It lasts for 3hrs (1hr walking+2hr driving). I think 2 years old kids would be too young for it. The road is bumpy so the driving part would not be very comfortable. In addition, they only allow kids with enough height to go on top of the vehicle (better view and I think kids will like it)
When I went all the giraffes had personalities and names to go with them. But I’m sure they’d love a nickname!
No, we did have a large bird that wanted to be part of our group and would peck your hand.. but that's about it.
$103 on weeke ds and $93 o. Weekdays. Book online, it's easier. No cell service there but wifi is provided near facility.
I would recommend some Hot Chocolate.
Hi Joan. We closed for about a week to help keep the roads clear and the number of people in the area to a minimum. Luckily, the recent fires never got close to us However, and we’re back to normal operations. Thanks!
It is not included. Before booking a date for stay, ensure safari slots are available during your stay (aka arrival/departure date) for your group size.
Hi Katie, We have two options at the preserve. The first is the Savannah Cafe which serves both lunch and dinner (advanced reservations required) as well as providing breakfast for our overnight guests. There is also Delilah's Deli, a small shop the offers snacks, drinks, ready-made sandwiches and other items. Hope that helps. Thanks!
I hadn't asked nor did I notice. You should probably call to get the correct information.
It was a gift. Not sure cost but you can go for the day only.
Call them and make sure they are doing tours this time of year.
Hi Verna, We are unable to guarantee availability until you book online or call our preserve. We highly recommend you call our reservations at 1 800-616-2695. They would be happy to assist you in booking your tour on one of our safari vehicles. Thank you. Aphrodite Caserta
If you're interested only in the zoo then one day is more than enough.
Did not see any dogs. U would have to check. But seems like, not a good idea
Thank you everyone! While visiting Safari West, video and still photography are permitted for personal non-commercial use. We do ask that no tripods be used, We ask our guests to talk to their guides and follow our wild safety manners, as the safety of our visitors and animals is of the utmost importance. We like to say that short of getting on a plane and flying to Africa, Safari West presents an excellent photo opportunity.
I am not sure
