Is the Nature Center safe? Specifically, is their fencing in place? I don't how comfortable I feel being in close proximity to a deer or coyote.

It's a nature preserve. There are not fences except in the parking area. Wildlife is far more scared of us than we are of them. If you don't try to approach the animals, you won't have any problems. It's safe and very kid friendly.
