To correct someone's post that mentions a ferry to Balboa Park... There is no ferry to Balboa Park. The ferry goes from Coronado Ferry Landing to Seaport Village in Downtown San Diego. From there you can walk around Seaport, SD harbor and the gaslamp area. That said, you can Uber pretty much anywhere in that vicinity inexpensively. Including Balboa Park and Old Town State Park. Carlsbad flower fields are a good 40 min away from that base. Coronado Island itself is one of the prettiest areas in SD. So many beaches too. Ocean, Pacific, Mission, La Jolla, Del Mar, Encinitas beaches...
Flower field is about 30 minutes away going north on I-5. I'm not sure what San Diego State park ate you referring to, but Balboa Park is about 15 minutes away. You will need car to go almost anywhere. There is a ferry that you could take to Balboa Park, but it's probably 20-30 minutes walk to the ferry and then another 20 minutes from ferry landing to Balboa Park.
Huh?
I recommend you check out Balboa Park as a closer option.
Carlsbad flower field is about a 30-45 min drive with regular traffic flow from Coronado
I'm not sure which park and flower fields you're talking about. You would have to be more specific. The main flower fields I know of are in Carlsbad and not close. If you're wondering about old town state park, then that is closer. But nothing is really close by unless it's on Coronado since that's where the lodge is. There are plenty of great things to do on Coronado.
