I believe in NC, you still have to pay rent, BUT you have options... I believe you can sue your landlord, in his county. I would still call and verify with legal aid and with the clerk of court what your options are. Lawyers are a good option too, if they give an initial consultation for free. Good Luck...benn there, done that too much in NC
