I am no expert, but I don't think any dog should be crated all day! That is not much of a life. Doggy daycare is an option for working parents. Or a dog walker can come once or twice daily. It is not cheap, but your dog will be happy to get out of his or her crate!
As long as your dog is in a comfortable temperature environment, yes. They will get used to being in a crate. You may try peanut butter in a treat to soothe them into the crate.
