There is no one answer. I put in a great deal of daily effort and had a great lawyer through Binder & Binder and got mine in 11 months which is shockingly fast. I've met others who are still waiting after 5 years of original filing. Be prepared to be refused your first time, they do it to everyone even a man I met who lost his vision. Life on Social Security Disability is NOT easy nor the fun free ride so many think it is. If you get it they will review you within two years to learn if they can take you off the program. If you can truly work then do that as it's easier and better for you. If you've seriously disabled then be prepared to put in all the work needed to get approved. I spent 12 to 14 hours every business day going to offices, making calls, filling out forms and learning all I could. If you pursue this then I wish you not luck but success in the time and effort you put in.
