Well, we used to stay there every time we did the Florida to Virginia drive for family holidays. Santee is almost exactly half way. But really, the box breakfast was the thing that convinced us to go elsewhere further north. It was awful. It would have been better off to not offer anything for breakfast. You are right about Clarks place being much better than the other places in Santee. But we felt slapped in the face with that breakfast box.
They're serving hot breakfast on weekends again (pancakes, biscuits and gravy etc. ) and trying to staff up for 7 days again, but there weren't a lot of guests so I can see it's a tough shift to cover. I don't know about the "special" but I think that's the rate for a night and I think it's a nicer place to stay than some of the neighboring places.
