For Anchorage, they just do filter and release to the Cook Inlet. They have a special permit (NPDES) from Fed's EPA allowing them to do this. For Eagle River and Girdwood, they do more extensive treatment (i.e. Secondary treatment) before they release the treated sewer water back to the ocean.
Just like most other places, they filter and disinfect before putting it into the ocean.
