Your best bet is to take the Long Point Shuttle from Macmillan Pier. It runs every 1/2 hr and the cost is $20 for a round trip. $15 for a one way trip if you prefer to walk out or walk back in via the breakwater on the west end.
Walk along rocks, I suggest the water taxi.
Take a ferry from pier, tickets available on boat. 20 bucks round trip. That way you can bring chairs/cooler/etc. Some people hike over by rocks from another spot.
