Worst customer service anywhere.
Art Vandelay gave you an accurate answer. I suggest mapping your entire trip for a mileage estimate and using that, the current gas price, and your estimated fuel mileage to come up with a total cost. Add to that whatever fixed costs will be associated based on length of rental and vehicle type (they will give you this) to get an idea of what the deposit will be. You reconcile the difference when you return the vehicle. They refund any overages within two or three days. You will need a credit card. Debit cards work if they have enough funds - call the place to ask how much is needed. This shows only as a hold and is released overnight.
As a former Uhaul dealer I can tell you that the only charge is for the number of days and mileage (if for truck rental) that if estimated at the time of rental. This amount will show as pending in your bank statement until the rental is returned at which time it is determined if the final charges are less or more than the estimate based on miles driven and days used.
If i remember correctly the deposit was a 300 hold in you credit card. They have the worst attitudes and customer service when you return it. Just a heads up
