Why is your music so loud? I have a hearing problem and had to leave because I didn't want to damage it more. Sat in the back and still felt the vibrations on my chest.

Sit on the sides or up front and it won't be so loud. All systems are built to hit the middle of the house and back. Go to a far side

Hearing damage is at 85 decibels.

I live in Rosedale directly behind your church. On Tuesday evenings when your worship group practices I can hear it inside my house with my t.v. on….FOR THE LIVE OF GOD, PLEASE TURN DOWN THE VOLUME & BASS!!

The church’s answer, while technically correct, is tone deaf. A seeker had a legitimate concern. The issue really wasn’t damage. It was pain and discomfort. Paradoxically, some of us with hearing impairment are ultra sensitive to loud noise. It physically hurts. We want to participate in worship, but the environment is physically intimidating. Also, the problem includes feeling like an outsider, because the hearing impaired have an invisible disability. Wearing ear plugs is embarrassing, and draws attention to that single person’s difference from everyone else. Maybe that’s unavoidable, but the person is the important matter, not the church’s technical data on sound levels. I hope someone reached out to this individual personally to look for solutions.

Churches today want to attract the kids. Kids like loud music. Kids like the church, they bring in the parents. And you know what come with the parents. MONEY. Churches are all about the almighty dollar these days.

I agree. The music is too loud during the contemporary service. I almost didn’t return because of that. I’ve attended many churches in my 40 years as a Christian and this one is the loudest I’ve ever been to.

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concern. Please know that a great deal of thought, pray and planning goes into how we present and express worship. To address your concerns specifically, the sound pressure levels at Woodland are well below the threshold OSHA cites as having a potential to cause any hearing damage. We continuously monitor our sound pressure levels and routinely run an average of 90-92dB throughout the worship portions of our services. Federal guidelines indicate that a person would need to be exposed to between 6 to 8 hours of continuous sound at those levels to potentially cause any hearing loss. Our worship sets will last anywhere between 20-30 minutes with many portions of which are well below the average peak levels. We are sensitive to the fact that individuals are affected by audio differently and have varying preferences of loudness. We offer free earplugs at our guest services desk in the lobby. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

I agree I am a little deaf and it is still too loud! We now go to nine o'clock service and it is perfect!

I’ve never been to this church but if you wear hearing aids, you MUST turn them off for any live music performance. Music volume is like air conditioning. It is not possible to make everyone happy. I know I find it very irritating if I visit a church and cannot hear any of the instruments being played. Those people work hard to serve the Lord and their contribution has value. If you have an impairment, you are responsible to deal with it. Expecting a whole church to cater to you so you won’t have to wear earplugs comes off very self-centered. Sorry, church is not all about your comfort. It just isn’t. Although I am sure you can find a church gathering that is more your style.

For me, it is way too loud as well. I asked them once to reduce the level and it helped.
