Good question. Its crazy trying to get checked out. Sams club is the same way..

Rex Gruver | Sep 5, 2020

As far as Sam's club goes, Get the "Scan and Go" app. As you shop, you scan whatever you buy. When you're done, pay for it with a credit card. Go to the exit and show them your phone with the receipt on it and then, "You Go!" Simple simple. No standing in line, ever. Nice......😁

Here in Gainesville Fl on Archer Rd. They only have self checkout. We have 3 Walmarts and Archer Rd. Walmart has like 20-25 self checkout registers and like about 3 employee checkout so they are gearing up to build only self checkout to save on cost with employees being at work. Everyone is doing it all major Corps.

The schedule g system is based off of sales. On times when the sales are the lowest they will have less cashiers. The store doesn't really have a say in how many cashiers can work at what times. That is all the main office in Arkansas.

I think it's a typical Walmart...

I suspect that it cuts down on their overhead to limit the number of people working in the store at any given time.

Steven Legere | Sep 6, 2018

I think they do it so that people will browse longer and buy more stuff while they wait for the line to shorten.

They should design WalMarts to have movable registers on lifts from beneath the floor, like they do with Disney worlds trash cans. That would clear things up. Or they should make all registers self-checkout when not used by actual human employees.

Tray EMERSON | Sep 5, 2020

I think Jenisse's answer sounds the most plausible. But that would be based on forecasted predicted sales which are based on previous sales days and trends. But it does not necessarily reflect the actual sales on any given day so at on any given day it could be a huge influx of customers with say maybe only five registers open and then of course you have at the Butler Plaza Walmart just the one self-checking they so everyone seems to go there I think because they like to check their own stuff out but also because the line moves along so fast. You're not waiting on a human you just waiting on other customers who are just as anxious to get the hell out of there as you are. LOL but it's true. But it's still ridiculous how long that self checkout line is. It seems like even on a slow night it's 10 or 15 deep but on a busy day or busy after work it seems like that thing can be going way down the aisle at maybe 40 or 50 buggies deep. Several times I've just put my stuff back and left
