Making an appointment is always a good choice but walk ins are welcome.
I always make an appointment
I'd recommend making an appointment. I donate platelets and at certain times the machines are completely full. Making appointments through the Red Cross App is super easy and can be done the night before. In the past they've told me I can call to see if there is a chair empty if I have no appointment and want to come in.
You can walk in but you run the risk of waiting a long time (potentially over an hour) if someone else has just gotten on the machine. I never have a problem getting an appt around a convenient time for me.
