Hi Cathy, there are different types of MRI machines for different needs. Tower offers four different types. We have an open MRI, standup open MRI, extremity open MRI and traditional closed MRIs that look like a tube. For our traditional MRIs we have larger 70cm wide-bores at some of our centers that are shaped like a tube but much larger than most. Depending on what exam your doctor has requested you can request an open MRI or wide-bore MRI when scheduling. To learn more please visit www.TowerRadiologyCenters.com/mri.

The 1 I used was large, circular tube. However, it was much larger than any other machine I've been into, in the past. I have very broad shoulders, so fitting in used to be very difficult. This time, it wasn't. Hope that answers your question?
