If this is the park where gators are killing dogs, why wasn't something done after the first attack?

If you stay in the fence area your unleashed dog is perfectly safe. Nearly always in the event of an attack like this a trapper removes and destroys the offending gator. The dog attack identifies it as a threat to humans. It was probably done...just not publicized! FYI, if for some strange reason, it was not removed you can still make a request to Fish and Wildlife on which they will almost certainly act if someone can identify the gator.

There was an incident recently where a dog was being walked outside the fence line on the path. Second hand info says that the dog slipped out of its collar and ran into the preserve on the north east corner an was fatally attacked. Also second hand info, the dog was a service dog for an individual who subsequently committed suicide after the event. My heart goes out to the individuals family. The park is fenced and a safe environment for all dogs. I bring my dogs there every day and will continue to take them there. The area has since been signed for caution.
