Felts Audubon Preserve is a hidden gem. A nice short walk around two ponds with access points to view water fowl and other birds. A bird blind also provides views of local birds at feeding stations. Well kept trails through wetlands and forest environments. Not far from Bradenton Florida.

This is a wonderful, peaceful place to see many different birds. There's a great bird blind, a pond, a field, and tons of trees.

Great park! Had a lovely time. Before you go you should know that there isn't really a parking lot, you have to pull on the side of the road. I would also recommend wearing a hiking shoe and long pants as the trail is a little woods-ier than some of the other preserves in the area. I went a day after a rainstorm and my mesh sneakers got soaked because it's a grass trail rather than gravel.

A truly amazing place to take a nature walk. The bird blind makes it easy to see some of the local birds.

Last couple times we have visited felts preserve we have noticed what appears yo be a lack of seeds and a big feeder for the buntings is missing from station 5. Is this a funding issue

Hi Wesley, Glad you had a chance to visit, we are spending a lot of time trying to keep it a great place for the birds, wildlife and visitors. It's a completely volunteer situation, no one gets paid. The Buntings have arrived and they love the millet. We try to keep the feeders full and in good shape, maybe you were visiting on a day when we were working on the feeder you mentioned. The amount of seed the birds eat is pretty amazing and good quality seed is not inexpensive. We are very happy ( and the birds are too) when visitors and members make donations to help feed the population. There is a donation box at the bird blind and near the picture board when you first enter the property. We don't get a lot of money but the birds appreciate every bit of it. Want more info? Try manateeaudubon.org and you are also very welcome to come to a monthly meeting, third Thursday, October through April. Thanks for your interest and visits, it's a great place isn't it? Deb Yodock

A long shot - try the Audobon locsl group connected to Felts and inquire if one of their members was there and might have brought a lost item to their office (they're veey nice and heloful)!
