You can use Yelp to check in. It's basically getting in line/waiting list without being there. You have to show up within 30 mins after you check in with Yelp or else you'll lose your place in line.
The restaurant is huge! The hostess said that the back part—where we sat, even though there were plenty of seats in the front sections of the restaurant—was rarely used, so I wouldn't worry about not getting a table. If you've a group of people it wouldn't hurt to call them first. Great restaurant and perhaps one of the best breakfast menus I've seen.
Short wait at times, but not over 10 min. Most of the times we just walk in and get seated right away (I'm referring to the Burbank location). No reservations, though.
