As an associate of Home Depot, I can tell you that a standard shopping cart can sufficiently support the weight of a car battery. Home Depot also has a flat cart if the weight of an item needs to be kept close to the ground for either comfort or stability. Also, if you ask any associate at the customer service desk, they can provide an associate that will help you both unload and load your vehicle with most heavier or awkwardly-shaped items.

They have the flat pallette carts that can hold up to several hundred pounds. I personally have used one for a stove as well as a refrigerator, not at the same time mind you, but I was able to get both items to my truck using a pallette cart no problem. The only issue I've ever had is they don't turn too well & the heavier the item the less handling ability it has. Bring a friend with some upper body strength or ask for help from the employees.
