Yes and use Groupon to save money. Just remember Groupon expires at end of season. Use it or lose it. When we went we followed a school of dolphins. It was awesome watching the babies follow mom. So cute. We saw a couple of whales also, but not that close to us. You could only see the parts of them above the water.
Reservations are best. Especially if you're coming from a distance. We used Groupon and made reservations after. Great trip. I highly recommend.
Definitely make reservations. Sometimes you can still get seats that day but I wouldn't chance it. My wife and I have been on many whale watches and Cape Ann is about the best.

I would definitely make reservations when my family and I went the boat was packed and people had to wait until the next trip. The weather was perfect that day and we saw a lot of whales breaching the surface it was the coolest thing ever
