The manatees are not harmed as they are protected species. Guides make sure you are aware if laws and what you can and cannot do. Also are watching interactions of visitors and manatees while you are in water. Great experience for all.

You mean the manatees I presume. There are laws that protect the manatees. The guide took great care in making sure everyone's actions did no harm to the manatees.
