They will definitely send you an "approval" letter if you're approved. After which you have to wait about 8 months for benefits to start from time of approval. You wait even longer for Medicare, 1year if i remember right. I had all proof of severe permanent injury needed and they still denied me the first time but I was persistent and just re filed my same "medical-evidence" and was approved. You don't need a lawyer if you have proof, it's that simple so don't waste your money.
You can go to your local Social Security building and most people get denied the first time no matter what they have it's very common
