A previous marble quarry thats now redundant, filled with water, and now used as a swimming pool... Has a childrens pool, and plenty of life guards! Good atmosphere, with zip line and diving board... $16 dollar admission for all day
I think I can give you the best, most accurate answer. :) Beaver Dam was formerly a marble quarry. Marble was removed and used in such places as the marble steps which Baltimore row houses were known for. The marble was also used in building the Washington Monument in Washington, DC. While quarrying the marble, a NATURAL spring was hit and has filled up the quarry. The spring continues to feed the quarry. The water is fresh water and because of the spring, there is a slight current which keeps the water moving and fresh. As a result of changed regulations, a portion of the quarry is marked off. There are plenty of lifeguards on duty. There are also 2 pools available, along with basketball, volleyball, and numerous fields.
They no longer have enough life quards. That is why half the quarry is closed off.
Very nice place to swim has a quarry and 2 pools. One of my favorite places to go ♥️
