The Baltimore Ballet is a great school and company that brings out the best out of the passionate dancers and ballet students. Appropriate syllabus is used for each age and level. Yearly Nutcracker and spring recital are every dancer and parent’s biggest expectation and it is every time for sure fulfilled. 👏

I love Baltimore ballet!! I have danced here for my whole life and have never had a bad experience here. The family atmosphere is not only welcoming but it is also a breath of air from the other ballet studios that support anger and harassment over kindness and proper dance technique. Please read all the other reviews besides the negative ones! Your child can get a great ballet education and become a part of a new community!

I used to dance in the company and teach there. They require their apprentice dancers to teach and work in the office, but don't pay them for it. I didn't receive any money for teaching, not even from private lessons I taught. They also put children en pointe as young as 8. The bones in children's feet are too soft until they are approximately 12, so putting them en pointe too early can cause permanent damage. Many of the children I saw en pointe also did not have the technique to be en pointe regardless of age, which puts them at risk of injuries and developing bad habits. Furthermore, the style of dancing the director and some of the teachers taught is not widely used in the dance world and the advanced students were put on a pedestal, meaning they lacked some discipline and respect. This means that if a student wants to have a career in dancing, they will be playing catch up. Please take your children to a school/company that treats their teachers well, prioritizes your children's safety, and teaches in a way that will set them up to succeed if they chose to pursue dance professionally.
