There are definite down sides as with all medication. These would be every bit of opiate or opioid must be gone from your system or it will put you into acute withdrawal. It also blocks dopamine receptors and blocking the release of endorphins, both of the feel good chemicals naturally released by the body. I'm never going to discourage someone from seeking treatment. From what I've seen in people on it, I KNOW that form of treatment is highly unappealing to me. I think it would be responsible for the worst depression ever. Research responses from real people, not testimony from pharma, treatment or biased sites. Hard to do but you can find it. For starters, lookup what dopamine and endorphins do to help the human body, specifically the brain. I go to Par but by what I see, Vivitrol is averagely $1000.00 a dose, so an educated guess tells me no coverage by Medicaid.
Operation PAR Clearwater is where I go.I have a very good friend that took the shot she liked it much much better than methadone and she stayed on it about a year and now she has successfully off of everything I don't know about Medicaid I know she was a self-pay so that part I'm not sure about best of luck
You can get it at Par and yes I believe Medicaid covers it
I also go to par and I was told by the doctor that Vivotrol is free (once a month injection) .
I go to PAR as well, but I've never heard of Vivotrol, can anyone tell me what it is? TIA
