Are there a lot of bears in the area?

Hi Terry. Thanks for the question. I have been involved with the Christopher Creek lodges for over 10 years. I have only heard of bears two times (both by the restaurant), which were promptly relocated by Arizona Fish & Game. You are much more likely to see deer, squirrels, raccoons, elk, blue jays, wild turkey, etc. It is a very safe place for a vacation out in nature. I hope this helps some. :)

There probably is bears. The few times I have visted this specific area I have not seen or heard of any. The multiple times camping between the lodge and Show Low I have yet to see or hear one. Only dangerous animal I've come across is a mountain lion near Chevelon Lake which I didnt even see, just heard it.

Not over populated but yes there are bears in the area. Pretty awesome
