Make sure that it's empty before you pass through TSA. There are water fountains you can fill it with after security. It's very smart to have one so you're not paying $7 for a bottle of water!
If you plan to carry it with you then you can take it only if it is empt. But if it has water in it then you have to dump the water before going through security.
