Dido. What Irene said. They are helpful but u must be ready. I also suggest getting your passport photo from somewhere else cause there it's way more expensive.
Yes they are open on Saturdays, no need for appointment. I suggest getting there early, have all paper work filled out if you can and have everything you need before you go.
