Be at the airport at seven then you take the fly away at about six ..although for me I would catch the bus one and a half hours because I like to be there way before my time
Get on the 4pm bus if it's an hour ride. They dont take cash but have cash if you plan on tipping the driver.
Also the FlyAway website give suggestions on what time to arrive. If I remember correctly the website suggests being at the FlyAway 2 hours before you need to be at the airport in order to get your ticket and be ready to board the FlyAway 90 minutes before you need to be at the airport. You never know how that traffic on the 405 is going to be. And bear in mind 5:00 traffic starts way before 5:00.
I generally estimate around one hour plus to get from the Van Nuys flyaway to LAX, so in your case, I would get on the bus at 5:30 PM (and no later than 6 PM).
