South of San Francisco is probably good like San Mateo county with Daly City, San Bruno etc. Marin is very beautiful place to live but is across the Golden Gate Bridge which would your commute to be costly. San Francisco is probably not an option since rent here is prohibitively expensive. Maybe Nob Hill in SF or outside the downtown area.
