Technically, yes, the doctors would be able to read an MRI. But the specialty of the Amen Clinics is using a SPECT scan (aka Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) to determine blood flow to the brain. Blood flow can help find the origin of seizures, brain injury, or type of ADHD someone might have. The MRI and CT scan detects variations in density. So it all depends on why you want to go to the Amen Clinics. If you are going for ADHD treatment, then an MRI will not be of much use, it will have exposed you to unnecessary radiation, and wasted your money. The doctors I have met are some of the best doctors on the west coast. If you had an MRI and looking for an excellent physician to review it, then yes, they are more than capable to help you.
They want you to do the scan at their clinic because that's how they make their money. Save your money. They are not here to help anyone. They have horrible doctors on staff who know nothing about the brain. Dr. Amen might be an expert but he doesn't have experts working at this office. .. I'm beginning to think Dr. Amen is just a really good salesman.
