Umpqua won’t let you know. They would let you deposit anything to charge an overdraft fee and I don’t say this in spite of them. I was a happy customer for years until covid. They even stole half my paycheck in December, then the woman on the phone had the audacity to say merry Christmas.
I would bring the check to Umpqua in-person. They've stopped me from depositing a fake check I've received. I wouldn't deposit it via ATM because they might freeze your account if it's fraud.
Check with the bank it is drawn on. May cost you a few dollars in you don't have an account at the same bank.
