There are 3 gates that raise up and let water flow over the top. Its onlu been used a handful of times over the years. Its truly a spectical when it happens. They can only let so much out at once. Theres another (much smaller) damn downstream. They can only handle so much flow so letting just run over the top isnt the best way of dealing with that.
I guess like any other dam built 50 years ago. Sorry not a dam expert. But it's a free tour...check it out
