How does the coupon work

The voucher discounts the cost of spaying or neutering your pet. The amount depends on if it is a cat or a dog and if you live in the city limits of Redding or in Shasta County. Shasta Lake residents must check with the Shasta Lake shelter to see if they offer one. We will take it, if they do. These vouchers are issued by the municipality they serve. The cost for a voucher is $2 and they take off between $20 to $40 of the surgery cost. To receive a voucher for a dog surgery, the dog must be licensed and have a current rabies shot. Sometimes the cost of the license and rabies vaccination is a wash with the savings on the surgery, but the good news is that future licensing is about 1/2 the cost of licensing an unaltered dog and the dog will be in compliance with the city/county ordinances. If the dog gets out and ends up at the shelter, the city/county fees to get the dog back are much less than if the dog is not licensed/altered/vaccinated.
