Keith, your best bet is to go and see the VFW Service Officer. You can just walk right in and ask your questions.
I don't think there are any VA benefits offices open on the weekends. I'm pretty sure only a few employees working in the emergency room are there on the weekend. You should call their number tomorrow during the day and speak to someone who works there.
