Do people need to make an appointment in order to buy a carpet?? We have been waiting for an associate (we went and asked twice for one) and now over 20 minutes waiting and still no associate that can help us to buy some carpet.

I'd just go to customer service and wait there and ask them to have an associate meet you at customer service. If you wait long enough at customer and no associate comes it makes the service desk associate nervous. They will find someone to help you.

I have waited just as long for paint to be mixed I believe they're just trying to stay on par with Home Depot's level of service!
