The city of Vallejo has decided to limit handicapped access to the parking area. The way they blocked the road makes me concerned that wheelchairs could tip over when trying to get back on the road, and with no attendent on site recovery might need the fire department.
Hi Roger, the main gate is usually open around 10am, and closes around sunset or later. If you mean the gate below the visitor center, it should only be closed if there's an event. Sounds like someone messed up and spoiled your visit.
