I would give each floor about an hour. So 3hrs minimum. The onsite restaurant is a great place to eat and take a brake.
Depending on how long you linger at certain exhibits or if there are special limited-time expositions, it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour (or a little more) to see everything.

If you are a car person you can be there over 8 hours. Note the Vault is a separate fee and they are guided two choices a one hour and a one and a half hour tour. The main museum to take it all in minimum 3 to 4 hours
We went 20180601 and took two and a half hours. Could've taken another two hours but had some folks with us who aren't as car nuts as we are. It's a great museum!
I did it in 2, was a good pace. Not everything will be your fancy. Every floor is excellent though.
