Pleasant surprise visit during a long weekend excursion to LA. The regeneration of cinema exhibition was awesome - especially the exhibition documenting the contribution of Black Americans to the industry which included historical clips and animated components. Wonderful to see so many different people enjoying the exhibit. Well done!

100% Amazing Museum—a movie & museum enthusiast. The Oscar Experience was extremely disappointing—don’t waste your money & I love spending extra $$$ to receive the VIP! While I appreciate & respect the mask policy—not letting you take it off for 15secs in a room by yourself for the Oscar Experience isn’t an experience, its missing the point—the museum need to tell people before they purchase this $15 add on. I didn’t say anything to the staff at the time, I recognize they don’t make the rules. Pls wait until mask are not an issue for this would be fun keepsake idea. It looks silly with the mask on not worth it! But definitely visit the museum its great!

Love the place! Sensory overload! So much to see, learn, absorb, and experience that you definitely need to spend the day wonder I need in and out of ever room on every floor! Do not miss the sound room! Or the Oscar experience (although you still have to wear a mask which ruins it). The views from the Dolby are breath taking! Go! Go! Go! You will love it!

I loved my visit here. I came out for the Miyazaki exhibit. Quick tips/need to knows: tickets: make sure you buy them online and arrive in the window that you are assigned. I came a little early and there was no problem getting in. Parking: you can mark in the garage right next to the museum. The rate is 18 dollars, but when I went there was plenty of spaces. If you want to search for parking you can find some in adjacent streets (limit is 2 hours though). So buy your tickets online and park next to the museum and you should be good to go! I wish I could have brought my kids with me. The exhibit was fantastic and the museum was equally as enjoyable. Not too crowded, and the staff was friendly. Highly recommend!

Yes. Take a note that the parking in the underground LACMA parking structure is $18.00
In the "discount code". After I click that I wanted an adult ticket...? edit: you put it in the 1st 6 numbers of your EBT card for 2 free tix.
Hi there! You can find the latest information about career opportunities on our LinkedIn page: linkedin.com/company/academymuseum.
The parking is shared with Lacma and the La brea tar pits parking. You do have to pay for it
We also purchased on-line with reservation time. We arrived early, went through health screening and was able to get in ahead of schedule.
You should call them. For sure they are.
Kobe won an Oscar.
December 14 according to an announcement during the Oscars
The construction is near completion and it will be highly publicized
Yes they are extremely serious about covid cards and masks. If you remove your mask for a second someone will come up and yell at you to put it back on. At the front desk you will have to show your covid card and ID to get in.
The "reservation" is the same as the "ticket" to get in. The reservation/ticket times are to pace out the number of visitors inside the museum at once. They also allow only a certain number of people inside the gift shop /any exhibit at any time. Anyone can go on the ground floor, in the gift shop, and inside the cafe without a reservation or before your entry time. There is a desk on the ground floor where you can purchase a ticket for a specific time, or preferred online. The ticket to the Miyazaki exhibit includes general admittance, so you can visit all floors and other exhibits they have as well, by the way. I went recently and in my opinion it was absolutely worth the price! They also do require proof of vaccination and masking still.
Usually if they are unavailable online, in person will be the same
Best to call directly for timely information such as this
Doubt
I would call but I would imagine that a ticket is not considered "used" until scanned. If you log-in it show available once your arrival time has passed and allow you to select a new time.
It's best to have a reservation to enter currently
Docent led tours are available for groups but, you as an individual would fare better on your own taking your time. Also, when you arrive there are plenty of staff directing you where to begin and the order of the flow of the exhibits.
Not sure you would have to check the website when you purchase your ticket to be sure. But, I believe it's a reduced rate and under 5 years are free
Go to visit or plan your visit, I believe you scroll down a bit and the word tickets is in the center of the screen for you to click
Still online is recommended. They do have on site ticket sales however on the weekends these sell out almost immediately upon opening.
Yes. It is a small exhibit of his films
Monday through Thursday 10am-6pm Friday through Sunday 10am-8pm
I spent about 2-3 hours without any tour guide
No specific hours. Same as the museum hours
Well i didnt see the sunset on the top but If you google Sunset in LA It says 5:44 PM Wednesday, February 23, 2022 (PST) Sunset in Los Angeles, CA
No. You have to show your card.
It appears that they rotate various exhibitions throughout the museum. There are a few, while notable, I didn't seem to grab our attention as much as others did that we specifically came to see. At the beginning of the tour there is some specific information talking about some of the major studios and included notebooks and signatures of some of the heads of the large studios. Film history is diverse and extensive. The space is truly a not that large if you want to showcase every single part of it all the time. I think they're making a good effort at addressing current topics along with providing some important details of the history and some exhibits that are ongoing. Hope that helps.
You should address that question directly to the museum directorship, and those who are responsible for making content decisions.
Yes you can
Yes you can
They are the actual awards

The gift shop is open. I didn't see if there is an outside entrance. We came from inside and there was a line to limit capacity.
Check their website for details.
Proof of vaccination is required for adults
When I went they were flexible, but it was a slow day.

You have to go through the whole process of picking the date that you want to go just like you were ordering the tickets at regular price and when you get to the end it's going to ask for a discount code that's when you put in the last 6 digits of your EBT card and then your balance will be zero.
2 hours to rush thru. I took three hours and took lots of photos. I did the "Oscar Experience" which is fun. You get a 15 second video of you accepting an Oscar. Music and audience reaction (but not your voice) is added. Great detailed exhibits on the various special crafts, like costume design and make-up.
You're better off eating earlier in the day if you intend to eat at Fanny's (the restaurant located within the museum). When I was there we waited until after we'd toured the museum and when we got there they were out of pretty much everything except desserts. The museum is at 50% capacity so the restaurant is making adjustments to their inventory as well.
1 1/2 hour..u basically tour all 4 floors on your own!
Check your email.
Parking entrance from the 6ths street behind the building ,all day 16$.
