You can. You just need to keep it leashed and do not leave it at the site alone.

Absolutely, great place for walking. The day use area across the road is probably the more scenic. FYI Bring plenty of insect repellent and or long sleeve shirts. The southern campsites flood really bad in heavy rain and the wood side is infested with mosquitos. Showers are 2.75$ located in the center and bathrooms south of that. Bring quarters also.
