Keep in mind that if you got American citizenship after 1991 then you need the ID and passport and period. The people who work at the airport are not to blame so are the laws. Every Colombian citizen who obtained American citizenship before 1991 automatically renounced his Colombian citizenship and they do not need a Colombian identity card or passport.

You have to travel with a Colombian passport and carry your ID every time you travel to Colombia because those people scold you for all the immigration people from Bogotá in Bogotá, they are not very friendly, there is no fine, what there is are scolding and I no longer understand how they explain how they speak. But take your American passport because they ask for it when you enter the U.S.A.
