Yes. Make sure to put them in a seperate bag covered in paper towels to soak up any ink leakage.

Yes, I agree that you should let them remove the ink cartridge at Best Buy. After all , they are the experts.
I would leave them in the printer if they came with it. If there was an issue with the device, it's easier to show them what happened like you experienced it. If you're just returning it, I'd still leave them in, less mess, less waste, less work.
