I've spent a lot of time there with my family and friends, have not seen any bears. Although it wouldn't surprise me to hear of one passing through; it would be very rare for 2017. Lots of deer and gopher tortoises. Years ago there was a Florida black bear near the Hillsborough River close to Sulphur Springs, ecologists said it probably followed the river from central Florida. Starkey is beautiful.
There are bears, but they generally stay away from most visitors.
No, there are no bears.
Its a wilderness park, there could be bears there, not saying there isn't
We have been there many times, I have never seen one or heard of one spotted there. Many people walk their dogs in the park and there are lots of small animals and tortoises. Of course there are acres of woodland where I have not been but still I think the chances of seeing a bear are very low.
I've never seen any and I can't find any info on line confirming that they are there. I'm guessing the answer is no.
I've never seen one, or heard of of a bear being in the park, but its always a possibility, I suppose. But of put the odds around 1 percent, if that. A bear was trapped near SR 52 and the Suncoast in 2009, but thats the only report Im aware of.
32 years and I've never seen one.
