Yes, from Federal Hughway (US 1), turn East on 17th street in Fort Lauderdale. As you approach the bridge, turn right (South) at the last light (Eisenhower Road) and in about 100m you will see the entrance to the convention center parking on your left. If you go too far you will be at the Port Entrance, the officer will give you directions.
You can use interstate 75 to get there
I don't know what you mean by a federal highway as I am only familiar with State highways
