Thank you for the message. Playing the classical music is a safety measure for our customers and staff. Without playing the classical music, transient population make camp, leave trash and human waste, and create a nuisance and safety issue for both our customers and staff. Over the years we have tried a variety of techniques to mitigate this issue without any support from the City of Eugene. We began playing the music over a year ago and the issues disappeared; in fact, we were visited by the City of Eugene Police Department and learned that this is the preferred approach to dealing with the transient and homeless population. Until the City of Eugene addresses the transient and homeless population, we will need to continue this practice.
Han, are you aware of WHY they play loud classical music over night? If you live that close, you probably are. They have had to come up with a solution to homeless drug addicts using their property as their own personal drug den/toilet every night. When the staff comes in each morning they are forced to clean up drug needless, defecation, vomit, etc. I have heard they have tried many things and the music (classical) is the only thing that works to keep those folks away and the staff from having to become biohazard workers each morning. I'm not a representative of their business but have heard the horror stories from the owners and I'll tell you that they have been much more humane than I would be, with that classical music approach. Just thought I'd let you know the "why"
I would recommend that you contact the place of business when they're open.... I'm merely a very loyal customer ❤️
