Ms. Doolittle, As mentioned below, the music is intentional. We've had years of problems with people camping underneath our overhangs, as well as engage in elicit activity. Until we started playing classical music, we would come to work to find trash, needles, bodily fluids, human waste, etc. While we have a no trespass letter on file with the Eugene PD (EPD), they don't have enough resources to patrol for trespass violations as well as respond to accidents, burglaries, domestic violence, etc. Following many reported issues of problems during non-business hours and attempted break-in in 2017, EPD's Crime Prevention Specialist made a courtesy visit and praised us for using the classical music technique to deter loitering and trespassing; in fact, several studies have shown that transients do not like classical music in particular. So, the music getting your attention has achieved our objective of creating a safer environment for our staff, customers, and community in general.
Sad but true. A great little shop like that has to resort to that sort of tactic to keep the riff raff away. Yes, they play that music on purpose.
Classical music, yes i believe it keeps people from camping out there during off hours.
Oh ok. That's the first time that I'd heard it. i live in the area and haven't heard it
