I would pull into the lot under the park and pay for parking. Beware of leaving bags and valuables in your car anywhere in SF as there's been a rash of vehicle breakins; people breaking car windows if they see anything inside worth taking.

Parking can vary tremendously, depending on where you park, from a few dollars on the street to quite a bit in a garage. Parking is scarce, and if you can't arrive early in the morning to find a spot, a garage might be your only option, especially when there are popular events.
