There is no winter maintenance on the road. I'd suggest a nice spring day or in the summer after a night of rain
We went in the fall, about a week or 2 before the leaves "peaked". Unfortunately, it hadn't rained in a while so the waterfall wasnt as full as I've seen in other photos. Based on that experience, I'd recommend going a day or two after it has rained.
We went in early April it was very nice.
