About 10 minutes leisurely bike ride heading South to get to Corona Del Mar.
5 minutes right over PCH and into Balboa Island. Google maps and you can see you're across the highway from the beach. Make sure to go to Dad's for a Balboa Bar or Wilmas for breakfast and / or bloody Mary best in town.
Corona del Mar doesn't have much of a beach, but what it has is nice. What we do is ride bikes or scooters down the hill about 1/2 mile to Balboa Island and take the short ferry across to Newport Peninsula. From there you can pick whatever street you want to go to at Newport Beach. You'll be at the Balboa Pier and can head up on the Boardwalk to Newport Pier. All on scooter or bike.
