Terrific boat ride. Saw loads of dolphin pods up close, diving along the boats wake. So cool. Plenty of space on the boat. They gave us a free ticket for another day because the winds were too high and we had to turn back. So we got two fun boat rides out of it and even though we didn’t see any whales we had a great time. Can never guarantee whale sightings and we understand that. Would recommend this company!

This was myself and my Sons second trip. No visit to Newport Beach and surrounding area is complete unless you go for a spin on one of the whale watching boats at Davey’s Locker Whale Watching. The best part is all that you love about the mainland you’ll see from a unique POV. As you leave the harbor and you see the ocean maybe for the first time, know that you are in very capable hands. The captain and crew are very informative and certainly go for the chase. We saw pods of dolphins twice and a sun fish. My Son said he had a blast. So I’m happy. Overall you won’t be disappointed as even if not the whole adventure they offer a discount to re ride and even then you won’t say no to another spin. Thank you all for a great day.

Extraordinary service! The crew was fantastic, explaining marine life and detailed information about the dozens of dolphins that decided to put up a spectacular swimming show along with our boat! They found the pod of dolphins quite fast, and we had a fantastic experience seeing a baby ( about 3 weeks old) dolphin swimming along with his mom!

We LOVED our tour with Davey’s locker. We ended up doing two tours that day. The crew was awesome and very knowledgeable. We had Tanner and Brian both times, our captain I believe was Sterling. They shared pics and stories of what they have seen and answered all questions we had. We ended up seeing a few different types of whales in the distance, but had a ton of dolphins come and swim right along side the boat. It was AMAZING! When we come back to Cali, this place will be one of our first stops again!

Yes once you purchase the groupon you hust view voucher code you can either call and schedule or go to the webisite and schedule fairly easily. I always have a great time!
There were a few people over 59 on our trip today.
They have some snacks and refreshments. Basic stuff not meals but you can bring your own stuff to eat like a sandwich or something. I was too excited to eat much. The thrill of being on the ocean and salt air was mostly enough for me...
They sell drinks there but I'm not sure about your own. I mean I don't see why not if you are allowed to eat and drink. They sell alcohol too.
I found a Groupon for $12.5 or so and then only paid $3 of fees when booked on their website. I think without Groupon is around $38. The boat took us out for 2 hours and we were lucky to see gray and blue whales plus dolphins. I heard that if you don't see whales they give you a voucher for a future trip. The crew was very knowledgeable and you get to learn about whale migration patterns while on the boat. I enjoyed it! Hope you do too!!
Yes we had s blast they were very fun and saw lots of dolphins sees lions
It's open before any boat leaves and I've seen people buy a daily license there
I used the phone number on the website. I had to wait a few minutes but the phone was answered. They have a small team, so if they are helping customers it may take them a few minutes to answer.
Clearly says Fri-Sun is a surcharge.
Luck, but what a great adventure.
Davey Lockers is open all year round. They go out in Sun and rain. If your wondering if your scheduled trip is going out out in the rain, yes it is unless you have been contacted, Its Ship Ahoy! Have fun and dress accordingly.
I went whale watching. Don't know about the fishing?
More of a handmade, personal, vintage design. One of kind.!
Scheduled tours on a large boat with professionals go out to sea daily. I would advise that you make reservations, or show up early because it is very popular and exciting! Coupons are also available on line.
I don't think I've ever seen a dog on the boat, been fishing for 20years. If it's a big dog where would he poop? There's a galley like a small restaurant on the boat I believe it would be unhygienic if you were brought inside and it would be dangerous for him to just be outside, he might get seasick if he's not use to a boat. I'm even worse if it's a small dog he might be taken by a seagull.
You can bring your own food, but not in coolers. The web site also says no coolers, they do have food on board for purchase.
The Groupon deal I purchased had an option for "One Whale Watching and Dolphin Cruise for 4 Adults" which is probably what you should have done instead of purchasing 2 separate deals because you're only allowed to enter one voucher code.
Only during summer
Whatever bites! It depends on the type of trip you go on. The shorter half day trips have been catching a bunch of rockfish, whitefish and other assorted fish. The longer overnight type trips have still been having phenomenal tuna fishing. The people who work there always have the best advice on tackle and what fish they'll be targeting.
During the summer months parking is very bad and you should arrive at least 1 hour early. But in November get there 20-30 minutes earlier than you planned.
They still go, I hear that they went out on one trip with only four people.
Not sure. I chose a date in advance. Weekends are busier than weekday cruises. Check website or call for availability.
Hot grill on the boat. No hard sided coolers. You can bring a soft one with an ice pack
Parking is horrible! Got there 1 hour early. Never found a spot. Missed our cruise. They put us on the next one, missed that too because we still had not found a parking spot. Finally found one and made the last sailing. Never again!
Are you a tourist from other countries? You might need it if you are checking in a hotel or motel.
I always try to bring some frozen squid because they tend to be stingy with the squid.
Yes. I went with my 6 month old last week. If you go on a weekend in tourist season make sure to get there 1 1/2 - 2 hours early to find parking. My husband missed the trip because he couldn't find any parking...
When I was there, they were issuing tickets to people. But, it's better to contact them prior.
Yeah hamburgers, chips, sodas, beer and coffe
Get it on groupon, or look up the price on groupon and they will give you that price if you tell them you seen it there, on groupon it is around $45 but I think you need a license to fish which i think is around 15 for the day, and your own poles.
I am not aware that there is a shark season. Just like whales, you may or may not see them on any of their expeditions. Try calling them or looking for more specific info on their website.
You have to buy the Groupon and then go to Davys website and make reservation using the code on your Groupon tickets. If that time is available they will allow you to make the reservation and will send you an email confirmation. Or you can go to their website and see if the time you want is available. I didn't have problem reserving my time but I made it 4-6 weeks before the date I reserved.
No Davey's Locker has a store front on Newport Landing.
Lots of fun and treated with respect
About 2- hours
Look up the website first then if you still can't find it give them a call.
Most places go for about $80-100 for about 5-6 hours. Covers the rental of the fishing license, equipment, and live bait.
Yes they do and I just got back from a day trip with my son had a great time.
